Job Description

Association of Refugee Women in Uganda is seeking to recruit a competent, detail-oriented, and highly organized Finance Officer to join our team. The Finance Officer will be responsible for supporting the organization’s financial management functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with internal controls, and efficient handling of day-to-day finance operations.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports.
Process payments, receipts, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.
Manage petty cash and monitor organizational expenditures.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and donor requirements where applicable.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Support internal and external audit processes by preparing required documentation.
Monitor account balances and follow up on outstanding advances and accountabilities.
Maintain proper filing and custody of financial documents.
Provide administrative support on finance-related matters as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or part qualification is an added advantage.
At least 2–3 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks).
High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Desirable Attributes

Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
Experience working in a nonprofit or development organization is an added advantage.
