The Association of Refugee Women in Uganda (AORW-U) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Monitoring and Evaluation Officer to support our transformative programs serving refugee communities in Nakivale Refugee Settlement. About AORW-U

The Association of Refugee Women in Uganda is a refugee-led women's rights organization dedicated to empowering refugee women and girls. We focus on challenging harmful socio-cultural norms, revitalizing community networks, advocating through documentation, and fostering economic independence. Our work spans gender equality initiatives, education support, economic empowerment programs, and climate-smart agricultural livelihoods.

Position Summary

The M&E Officer will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing monitoring and evaluation systems that track program progress and demonstrate impact. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate data into actionable insights that enhance our programming for refugee communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement comprehensive M&E plans, frameworks, and tools aligned with program objectives and donor requirements
  • Establish and maintain robust data collection systems, ensuring data quality and timely reporting
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret program data using appropriate statistical methods and software
  • Prepare high-quality program reports, evaluation documents, and data visualizations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct regular data quality assessments, field monitoring visits, and program evaluations
  • Support program staff in understanding and utilizing M&E data for informed decision-making and adaptive management
  • Collaborate with program teams to identify indicators, set targets, and track progress toward program goals
  • Facilitate learning sessions and workshops to build M&E capacity among staff and partners
  • Ensure compliance with donor M&E requirements and organizational standards
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to disseminate M&E findings and promote evidence-based programming

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably in humanitarian or development settings
  • Demonstrated proficiency in data analysis software (Excel, SPSS, STATA, or similar)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and present findings clearly
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills in English
  • Experience with participatory evaluation methods and community-based data collection
  • Knowledge of refugee contexts and gender-sensitive programming is an advantage
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment
